Youth in agriculture: Bozhidar Genov

IN The first interviewfrom the series Young people in agriculture we introduced you to Gergana Marinova. It is time to meet you with another young man who has decided to continue the family tradition of work and development in the field of agriculture.

Hello, Bozhidar. What will you tell us briefly about yourself?

My name is Bozhidar Genov and I am from Stara Zagora. I work at ZP Todor Gospodinov Genov. Since I was a child, I wanted to be engaged in agriculture, but in the vicinity I did not find the opportunity for such a secondary education, and therefore I turned to the construction technical school. I graduated with a degree in Construction and Architecture.

Then I followed my dream and enrolled to pursue higher education at the Plovdiv Agricultural University, specialising in field breeding.

I have been in the family business since I was very young. Maybe I was 10-12 years old when I started helping and gaining experience.

That's great. Although so young, for those years in agriculture, how would you describe working in the field?

I love my job and often take my duties in the field as a pleasant pastime. It is still interesting to me, and personally for me the work is not very difficult.
What I can define as a difficulty is bureaucracy in agriculture. Fortunately, at times when I have to face it, I rely on TechnoFarm. With the software, we prepare the areas for delineation and subsequently see the real layout of the arable plots.

And what other difficulties do you encounter in your daily work?

Before we bought TechnoFarm we had a very big problem with the layout of the areas and the work of other colleagues within the boundaries of our plots of about 100 acres every year.
After we bought Trimble's handheld GPS combined with TechnoFarm this problem was solved and practically the money invested paid off already in the first year.

In fact, in our farm we have been working with the TechnoFarm farming software for quite a few years now — maybe for about 7 years now and I would recommend it to other farmers as well, because with TechnoFarmThey will know exactly how much and where they work. And even, the boundaries of the plots can load into the navigation of the machine.

What would you share about your work with Nick?

Nick and I have been working from the very beginning. Whenever there is a problem, they respond promptly and always have a solution. In addition to the TechnoFarm agricultural software, we also work with the Trimble EZ-Guide 250 navigation display, display Trimble GFX-750with autopilot and spray control equipment.

And as a final. What advice would you give to other young people in agriculture?

What I can give them as advice is to have and keep their desire to work and to feel love for the land. If they do it for any other purpose, they will not be satisfied.
