What is ISOBUS technology?

What is ISOBUS?

ISOBUS is a standardized communication protocol (ISO) that ensures the interconnection and communication between agricultural machinery — tractors, electronic equipment, other machinery and inventory.

The communication protocol began in 1986 at the R&D center of the Mechatronics Unit of Kverneland. The patent, which has a term of 25 years, was released early by the company in 2001 in order for more companies to access it and implement it in their machines.

Before the advent of ISOBUS technology, each machine had its own display/device, which meant:

  • Different working modes between different machines, resulting in confusion and difficulty in operation
  • More user manuals to familiarize yourself with and apply
  • Waste of time in setting up and adapting to each display
  • Higher costs
  • Lower performance

By standardizing the communication between agricultural machinery and process equipment with ISOBUS technology, all the shortcomings listed above were either eliminated or significantly reduced.

How to implement ISOBUS technology in our farm?

Whether the inventory is ISOBUS ready or not, you have to take into account two main components: the universal terminal and the ECU, providing this “intelligence” of the inventory and control capabilities from the cab/.

The universal terminal is the monitor through which you can manage all inventory, settings and operations. The universal terminal can be factory-installed in the machine or, in most cases, additionally installed.

  • Automatic section closing and opening (TC-SC)
