The winners of the first Bulgarian AgroHackathon are clear!

The main objective at the eventwithin two days the participants developed and presented technological solutions in the field of agriculture, in particular in one of the following topics: “Technologies in beekeeping”, “Internet of Things”, “Artificial intelligence” and “Data processing from agricultural machines”.The prize fundin the amount of BGN 22,000 was formed by the European project SmartAgriHubs and the support of DSK Bank and Expressbank.

The jury, in compositionIvo Kumanov —manager of NIK ELECTRONICS,Svetlana Boyanova— Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Agrostrategies and Innovation and founder of AgroHub.bg,Svetlin Nakov— founder of “Software University”,Doriana Milenkova- Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria andMilen Vlaev— Head of Agribusiness Department at DSK Bank, it was seriously difficult to choose a winner among all more than 50 participants.

Winners

The big winners of the contested competition became the brothers Alexander and Boris Brestnicki. They won the grand prize of BGN 15,000, thanks to their project to track the origin and quality of food. The winning team whose name isUno, developed within the framework of Hacatona, a mobile application that allows users to obtain the necessary information about a product, already at the time of its purchase.

Despite the great competition and the formation of 10 strong teams, the “Technologica” team managed to fight for the honorable second place. Their project was related to the processing of data from agricultural machinery and its analysis. The idea of the 7 IT specialists is aimed at helping farmers in managing business processes and making the right decisions.

Two prizes were awarded to the young software engineers from “BeVine”. With their development of a mobile application, they won a cash prize of 2000 BGN and a chance to participate in the upcoming hackathon of Wageningen University in the Netherlands /WUR Life Science FarmHack/. Their project was related to the possibility of establishing the health status of wine vineyards through a photograph.

The fourth place was taken by the team “The Bees”. Their development was directed in the field of beekeeping. Their project is aimed at identifying anomalies and early warning of dangers related to bees and hives.
