The end of the calendar year is the time when we should think about wintering the sprinklers. There is one universal rule here - the faster and more thoroughly the cleaning of the sprayer is carried out after each use, the longer its life will be.

Winterizing the sprayer is one of the most important procedures related to the maintenance of the machine. It is this operation that prolongs the service life of the sprayer and helps to avoid unpleasant surprises during spring spraying.

The service expert from NIK — Georgi Dimov explains what are the mandatory steps that we must follow in order to successfully winterize our sprayer. To do this, he shows us the practical steps in a self-propelled sprayer Berthoud, but they can also be followed when working with other models or brands of sprayers.

When we decide to winterize the sprayer, first of all we should clean it internally. Here are the steps:

1. Empty the rinse tank.
2. Use function 4 of the Berlogic panel of Berthoud self-propelled sprayers (Dwater withdrawal from the rinse tank),to transfer the water from the rinse tank to the main tank.
3. Empty the main tank. The main tank can be emptied, through the drain tap at the lowest point of the tank, or by function 9 from Berlogic panel of Berthoud self-propelled sprayers (Transfer).
4. Fill the rinse tank with the cleaning solution.To do this, you can count on the special preparation ALL Clear, in a ratio of 100 l. water to 0.500 l. concentrate. Thus, with one tube of 5 l. concentrate, you get 1000 l. solution.

Then comes the moment when we need to clean the sprinkler system. For this to happen, it is necessary to go through the following functionsfrom Berlogic the Berthoud sprinkler panel:

1. Function 6(Rinsing the main tank). To clean the hoses from the rinse tank to the main one. The mixing system of the preparation and the main tank itself.
2. Function 2(Mixing detergent with water from the main tank). To clean the funnel by opening the taps to add water and clean the tubes.
3. Function 5(Spraying). To clean the proportional valve and sprinkler system.

“In sprayers without constant recirculation, it is very important to unscrew the plugs at the end of the sections in order to clean the accumulations of detergent,” added Georgi Dimov.

After cleaning, it is necessary to empty the main tank again, through the drain tap.

After we have thoroughly cleaned the sprayer tank, a process of winterizing the sprinkler system follows.

1. Fill the rinse tank with the antifreeze solution.

N.B.2 In sprayers without constant recirculation, it is necessary to release the spray until detergent flows from the nozzles. By being able to open the sections one by one, in order to reduce the consumption of the preparation. Do not forget the recirculation tap. It is necessary to open it briefly when the pump is running in order for detergent to pass through it as well.

After passing the preparation through the entire system, you can drain the excess amount from the drain tap to the main tank, leaving a minimum amount at the bottom.
