There are three steps to effective tillage — quality main tillage, good alignment and reconsolidation. For this, however, we need a reliable partner to carry out a good mixing of the plant residues after harvest and an inventory that performs a good pre-sowing preparation. However, can we handle all this with just one machine? We are about to find out with the Kverneland disc harrows.
One Inventory — Many Applications
Qualidisc disc harrows are available in two versions — Qualidisc Proand Qualitisk Farmerwith which it can be carried out:
- Opening the soil after a cold snap or winter rains, improving air flow for faster warming;
- Stubborn cultivation after harvest;
- Second or third entry for the destruction of weeds and self-seeding, which would reduce the required amount of herbicides when spraying;
- Cutting corn stalks to prevent corn stalk borer wilt.
- Preparing the soil with a fine soil bed to improve germination even in small seeds such as canola and alfalfa.
What do the DLG tests show for the Kverneland Qualidisc disc harrow?
Prior to the launch of Qualidisc Pro and Qualidisc Farmer, the inventories were subjected to a series of tests. With this, Kverneland was able to guarantee the impeccable quality of the machines. DLG has also tested the qualities of Kverneland Qualidics, and the results are more than impressive.
DLG has tested Kverneland Qualidisc in some of the toughest soil conditions — clay and sticky soil. For two days, experts checked the performance of the machine at different depths of work and different soil preparation.

Shallow stubble processing
Shallow stubble processing was performed at an average operating speed of 11.7 km/h. To do this, the Qualidisc compact disc harrow required a power of at least 51.2 kW. At this speed, the dam achieved a performance of 3.5 ha /hour, not including the turnaround time here. The second shallow cultivation attempt was carried out at an average operating speed of 16.6 km/h. For this, Qualidisc required a power of 91.5 kW. At this speed, productivity jumped to 5.00 ha /hour.
Deep stubble processing
Deep tillage of stubble was carried out at an average operating speed of 12 km/h. To do this, the Qualidisc compact disc harrow required a power of 70.5 kW. Under these parameters, the productivity of the machine reached 3.6 ha/hour. In the second test, an operating speed of 14.8 km/h was reached. For this purpose, the aggregated machine required a power of 93.6 kW. Productivity here reached up to 4.4 ha/hour.
Pre-sowing preparation after plowing
The DLG tests showed that when pre-sowing preparation was carried out using a disc harrow, the size of the clods in the soil decreased from an average of 22.5mm to a value of 11.43mm, which is half. These values allow a better compaction of the soil and guarantee good germination of the seeds after sowing, even with small seeds such as those of canola and alfalfa.
