Optimized fertilization with AgroBalance on the farm of ET Katrig - 5

At the beginning of the summer, our team visited the farm of ET Katrig - 5 Nikola Yankov in the village. Lenovo and met with Radoslav Yankov to find out how he managed to optimize his fertilization through the complex agronomic service AgroBalance.
A total of 10,000 acres are cultivated on Radoslav's farm, the main crops being corn, wheat and sunflower. In order to take good care of his crops, he needs to apply at least three fertilizations to the different crops, which significantly affects his costs. Therefore, 4 years ago, he began to use the AgroBalance service to obtain valuable information about the stock of his soil with micro- and macro elements and thus optimize his fertilization.

In the beginning, we started like everyone - distrustful and tried with small areas, making analyzes only on the macroelements - nitrogen, phosphorus and potash. Subsequently, as we began to monitor and see the effect - we upgraded. We are already taking soil samples in addition to macronutrients - phosphorus, potassium, manganese, sulfur, as well as trace elements.
Every year we increase, according to our capabilities, the sampling areas.

Analyses of soil samples taken in the NIK laboratory revealed the presence of high phosphorus content and high acidity of the soil, which created the possibility to reduce fertilization on the farm.
We have reduced phosphorus fertilization at the expense of soil neutralization so that the plants can better absorb the available phosphorus from the soil. We have balanced our fertilization and are trying to use the VRA technology, which is with the variable rate of fertilization and I hope to have a result.

We definitely have benefits from the AgroBalance service and through the visualization on the platform we try to comply with the recommendations and I believe that this is the future for reducing costs in agriculture.
