The NIK service team advises: How to prepare your plow for the next season?

Are you ready for the upcoming plowing? The NIK service team and our experts in Kverneland inventory, for example, have prepared some tips on what to look for on your plow to ensure trouble-free operation during the season. Here are their top tips here:
Overview in several steps:
- Whether all wear parts need to be replaced;
- Auto-reset system for setting work to 70 cm;
- Whether any of the moving parts are worn out or need replacement (bushings and cones);
- Hydraulic-quick connections; Greasing of all bearings and specified parts;
- All fenders are installed well;
- The central bolt must be greased;
- The condition of the hoses and whether replacement is needed.

Setting the plow
- To properly adjust the canopy system, we need to symmetrically adjust the left and right sides. If the sheds are of different lengths, the applied effort will be different and the plowing quality will not be good.
- How to check if we have set up the inventory correctly? Mentally we continue a straight line on the left and right sides, and they should meet at the front axle of the tractor.
In the case of overhead turning plows, the attachment must be secured tightly. - When tilting the plow, a free movement of the lower joints to the side (about 10 cm) is necessary for the hoisting machines to allow the plow to self-direct. The third point of the canopy should have a smoother angle so as not to create an effort directed downwards. There is a likelihood of deepening of the plow during operation.
Do not go too deep into the soil
Before working in the field, adjust the working depth of the buoys — about 5-7 cm from the main one, as well as pre-adjust the hull mounts vertically. So you will adjust the depth of work through the support-transport wheel on the back of the plow.
A few steps to set up the plow in the field:
- two control passes of the field that indicate whether the groove is equal
- is the depth of the front and rear bodies the same
- adjustment of the protection effort (Auto-reset protection), the position of the support-transport wheel
- optimal ratio of the working width of the body to the depth of plowing: 1:4
- in the case of a new plow, it is mandatory to check whether the bolts are tight or if there is a need to adjust

The closer to these settings the machine is, the better the indicators of the economy of the tractor's operation, and the wear on the surface of the plow is less.
If the point of application of the traction force is not calculated, this leads to increased wear of the working organs and unreasonably high fuel costs when plowing.
How does soil preparation affect work?
If we cultivate the soil when it is too wet or too dry from lack of rains, we risk the quality of the treatment, as well as the integrity of the machinery and inventory.
The most suitable is the condition of the soil, when the moisture in it is sealed no later than 24 hours. Then we discus immediately after harvest. But if you have not disked, then you can plow even in dry autumn conditions, as moisture remains and the soil is softer. Last but not least — if you find yourself in a situation where you need a part replacement or service, you can turn to your personal service expert from the NIK team.Service is an integral part of the proper functioning of machinery and inventory and that is why we make sure you receive excellent service and genuine Kverneland spare parts.
