The planter has a central hopper, which is divided into 3 separate parts. A seed dispenser is installed on each part, so we can manage 3 separate seed rates from the hopper for one or several types of materials.

“What is specific about this planter is the unique design of the section. Its advantage is that it is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder, which serves for additional pressure of the section. With this we can achieve the necessary depth in direct sowing”, explains Pavel.

Depending on the soil conditions, we have the possibility to adjust the pressure of the section. This is done by hydraulics. And through the pressure gauge we can determine what the pressure force is.

“I suppose you have all noticed a case in which, after the planter, seeds are observed above the surface or outside the sowing bed. The reason for this is the air that blows the seed out of the seedbed before the closing wheel has closed the furrow.

Here this problem is solved, with the help of this diffuser, from which air comes out from above. And the seeds swirl inside the calyx and gravitationally fall into the sowing bed, no matter what fraction it is. This ensures that the seeds and granular fertilizer will be where they belong,” Paul said.

In addition to the possibility of adjusting the sowing depth, we can also adjust the aggressiveness of the closing wheel, depending on the different sowing conditions.

“The planter is equipped with a system for introducing two liquid fertilizer products. The tanks for the liquid fertilizer can be installed, both in this case — on the front canopy of the tractor, as well as in the rear of the planter,” added Pavel.

The Horizon DSX Fall Direct Sowing Planter is equipped with a BMC system that monitors seed flow. The distinctive thing here is that the system not only monitors clogging, but also counts the seeds per acre.

How do we track 4 variable rate products at the same time?

“We are already in the tractor cab, where we have the difficult task of managing as many as 4 products. And not only them, but also another system through which we need to monitor the flow and number of seeds,” said Pavel Kaloyanov.

The NIK service specialist will explain how only from the tractor cabin we can monitor two liquid fertilizers, one granular product, as well as the sowing of wheat itself. And at the same time to track the flow of seeds, thanks to the IUD system.

“This may sound very complicated, but in fact it is extremely easy, thanks to Trimble, which visualizes and manages all these products on its display.
