NIK announced its partnership with BaYwa in the field of agro-photovoltaics

NIK has announced its new partnership with the German company BayWa, which was founded in 1923 as an agricultural cooperative and this year celebrates its 100th anniversary as a leader in the development of green energy projects in Europe. The company will be their partner for Bulgaria and will help farmers who wish to combine the cultivation of agricultural crops with photovoltaic installations on their fields, thereby increasing their income from the managed land.

The solution that BayWa offers Bulgarian farmers with the help of NIK is the conclusion of long-term land lease contracts for a period of about 30 years, on which BayWa builds and maintains photovoltaic solar installations. It is only a matter of time before we see in Bulgaria the first Agri-PV systems (photovoltaic systems built on agricultural land), in which farmers use the land to grow crops and produce energy. This practically double use of land will bring farmers in our country, both more income and more sustainability and energy efficiency for the country.

“Bulgaria is an interesting market for us, with great potential for the development of the Agri-PV sector, which I see as an opportunity to happen very soon. NIK is the partner we have chosen to start the development of the segment of agrophotovoltaics in the country, as they are known for their innovative approach and striving for progress.” - shared
Max Tegtmeyer of BayWa.
