NIK and the Agricultural University of Plovdiv celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Faculty of Agronomy

2022 is the year in which the Faculty of Agronomy of the Agricultural University Plovdiv celebrates its 77th anniversary.

The event was marked as a kind of birthday, which was attended by people close to the history and activities of the faculty. Among the guests were a number of high-ranking persons, lecturers, representatives of companies in the agricultural sector, former and current university graduates and partners.

The official commemoration took place on April 29, 2022 and brought a lot of positive emotions to all those present. The program included an opening and an official part with greetings from institutions. In the second part, companies and organizations from the sector, including NIK, presented interesting topics related to the challenges and future of the agronomist profession.

The NIK group of companies was represented by Albena Mircheva-Jan, Manager at NIK Agro Service Ltd., and the main topic was the agronomist profession, its future within the global trends in agriculture and rapidly entering technologies in the sector.

“We meet more and more young graduates in Bulgaria or abroad who come to us and want to innovate and engage in agriculture in a new way and apply world best practices. They will insist that agriculture be modern, technological, efficient, healthy, and we must help them to do that.”

“At NIK, we have the task of supporting and motivating young people, because there is a need for everyone to be concerned and responsible to create an environment in which the agronomist profession is even more respected, promoted and there is a strong connection between theory and practice.”

During the event Albena Mircheva also shared some of the things that the NIK team has learned during its 20-year history. Highlights included global trends, such as conservation agriculture, reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers, and digital transformation in agriculture.
