Kverneland GEOFORCE: Automatic depth control during sowing

Seed seeding depth at the time of sowing is a critical factor for proper crop development and achieving optimal yields. However, conditions in different fields can vary greatly due to the variety of soil characteristics and the speed of work.

To ensure uniform germination even in such heterogeneous conditions, Kverneland developed the GEOFORCE system.

GEOFORCE is a system for automatic depth control during sowing, regardless of changing soil conditions, plant residues and speed.

With this system, precise seed placement at the same depth is achieved, which is an essential prerequisite for optimal germination, good harvest conditions, higher yields and optimal crop quality.

The system automatically adjusts the sowing depth of each row in the spring planters Kverneland Optima F and Kverneland TFprofi with SX section, ensuring uniform germination of the crop.

Automatic pressure control ensures optimal seed positioning for uniform germination. It is especially fruitful with smaller and lighter seeds such as canola. With GEOFORCE, the “bulldozer effect” is prevented.

The GEOFORCE system

Variable conditions are a challenge because light soil requires less pressure to penetrate the soil than heavier soils. The weight of the seeder is either not enough or too large. The aim is to provide uniform depth control for precise seed laying under different soil conditions and operating speeds by maintaining a constant contact force with a constant weight of the measuring disc.

Sensory technology transforms this information and hydraulic cylinder with double action /pressure and/or lifting/in parallelogram, adjusts the oil pressure to direct the section relative to the required depth. Each seeder is individually monitored and automatically adjusted on the move.

With the GEOFORCE system, all rows maintain the same seeding depth, also those moving in more compacted areas, such as on tractor tracks.
