Comprehensive model of precision agriculture in Martin Draganov's farm

On the farm of Martin Draganov- a farmer fromNorth-East Bulgaria, have been used for more than 10 years precision farming technologies from Trimble. In a conversation with NIK, the farmer tells how modern equipment has affected the performance and results of his farm.What precision farming technologies do you use on your farm and for how long have you been applying them?Since 2004 - 2005 we have been using Trimble technology. We started with EZ-Guide 500, then FMx and for the last 4 years we have been working with TMX, Trimble Autopilot and Yield monitoring, which we use at harvest.Which of their functionalities do you use most often and in which activities do they help you?After harveston the sunflower, where we use Trimble Yield Monitoring and automatic control with TMX display, we process stubbleand we dosoil mapping, on the basis of which they are preparedsoil mapsfor phosphorus application mainly, potassium very little, for preparation for the autumn campaign.What change have you noticed since you started working with these technologies? How did their implementation affect material costs, operating time and yield?The implementation of technology has improved our work in several aspects. First managerial I make easier decisionswith Yield Monitoring and the tools that enable us towe observe the cropsand make more adequate decisions from the point of view of farm management.From the point of view of technological - we distribute the seeds better, we work more efficiently. We have reduced by about, in some blocks, up to 50% the application of phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers. It's different for each field, but we have fields that we've been working with VRA for the fourth year now and have started leveling up as stocks. Not at 100% yet, but up to a large percentage and we reach an equalization of nutrient reserves in the field.What are your impressions so far about your cooperation with NIK?Our cooperation with NIK is more than 10 years.
