For the first time, Forbes awarded a company from the Agrosector in its annual FORBES Business Awards

At this year's FORBES Business Awards, organized by the prestigious international edition Forbes, agriculture was also recognized as one of the sectors shaping the economy of our country. The ceremony took place on 28.01.2020 at Sofia Event Center and was attended by representatives of nearly 100 of the largest companies in the country. So many entrepreneurs had not gathered in one place for a long time, as at the closing ceremony of the FORBES Business Awards 2020.

The whole hall was captivated by the excitement of the winners, by their words at the reception of the awards of FORBES Bulgaria. This competition promotes entrepreneurial spirit, good business practices and social responsibility, inspires Bulgarians to follow their dreams.

Among those awarded with an honorary statuette, a company well known to all of us in the agricultural sector stood out, which showed that its contribution to the development of the sector is visible not only to us, the farmers and journalists who deal with it professionally, but also to people outside the sector, who are seemingly far from agriculture and the difficulties with which it is collided in Bulgaria. For the first time, a company from the Agricultural sector was included in the competition and received an award. It was NIK, a company that we all associate with precision farming and innovation. It was the innovation in the sector that impressed the jury that made the selection of the winners. We are talking about innovations such as soil analysis and soil mapping, variable rate fertilization, automated tractor management and much more that are already part of the daily life of a large number of farmers.

To receive the award on behalf of NIK, Kaloyan Kumanov, who is one of the people behind the company, took the stage, and he shared the following:

“Agriculture is one of the sectors with the greatest impact on people's daily lives. Three times a day, each of us is grateful and honors the work of the farmers — at breakfast, at lunch and at dinner. However, being a farmer nowadays is quite difficult, it is a challenge — to produce quality and clean food, at an affordable price. It is in this challenge that we are helping farmers. We believe in this our mission, but as such it is a mission of our entire team that I would like to thank, who works for it every day. I would also like to thank the Forbes team for recognizing agriculture as an important sector.”

This recognition is not only a recognition of NIK as a company, but also a recognition for agriculture in Bulgaria and its development in the last one year and as a technology and as an importance for the country's economy.
