FieldView SprayKit - the result of the partnership between Bayer and NIK

As part of their drive to improve the global agri-technology sector, NIK and Bayer signed a partnership agreement on 13.11.2023 during the Agritechnika exhibition in Hannover, Germany. Stimulating the digitalization of farms, the two companies are launching a new product called SprayKit, which transmits the collected data to the FieldView software platform. The main objective is to remove the existing technological barriers in agriculture that face small and medium-sized farmers.

What is SprayKit?

SprayKit is an IoT solution designed to optimize efficiency, enabling more farmers to implement sustainable practices on their farm. FieldView SprayKit will be available in ten selected European countries as well as South Africa from early 2024, with configurations suitable for both grain and vineyard sprayers and fruit and vegetable sprayers.

SprayKit consists of flowmeters integrated into each section of the sprayers (conventional or fan). The data collected through these sensors is visualized in the FieldView platform, which allows real-time monitoring of the applied amount of preparation and enables precise calibration, increasing efficiency and minimizing unnecessary application of plant protection preparations. This ensures that each hydraulic section applies the desired amount of plant protection product, which contributes to a more sustainable food production process and the possibility for farmers to monitor and verify the distribution of plant protection products in relation to buffer and other areas that must remain untreated, thus facilitating reporting.

The FieldView Spray Kit goes one step further, allowing farmers without ISOBUS compatible sprayers to easily collect spray information in their digital agronomic logs.

Christine Brunell-Linho, Director, Customer Service and Service Activation, DFS EMEA: “At Bayer, we are committed to supporting farmers and the entire food sector in embracing digital transformation so that it can feed a growing population while protecting the planet. Our goal is to empower farmers to embrace regenerative practices while ensuring productive and profitable operations, and FieldView SprayKit is a prime example of how we are making this vision a reality.”

Ivo Kumanov, founder of NIK, added: “SprayKit FieldView is a tool that facilitates digitization for farmers, a tool that allows farmers to make data-driven decisions to optimize the resources they invest. With this new system, plant protection monitoring is now easy. ”

Compliance becomes simpler as farmers can track the number of treatments used digitally and make it much easier to keep agronomic logs. In addition, they can analyze spray and harvest data, looking for ways to improve agronomic practices, as well as gain a better understanding of how to make their investments and resource allocation on the farm more sustainable.

Simone Galina, Italy, Valdobbiadene Conegliano Prosecco, winemaker:“As a farmer, I was hesitant to invest in a new self-propelled sprayer due to the high cost. Since I had previous experience with Climate FieldView, I accepted the invitation to test SprayKit primers and it opened my eyes. Before the tests, I had the feeling that the calibration was not optimal, but I could not make the necessary adjustments. Now, with spray data available quickly coming into my FieldView account, I have the tools to properly calibrate the sprayer and analyze the performance of my treatments like never before. It's not just about saving costs; it's about making every app relevant. In addition, the availability of agrotechnical journals with which to apply for subsidies is an additional bonus. SprayKit has really changed the way I approach spraying on my farm.”

SprayKit FieldView is a direct response to the challenges posed by analog agro-machine parks by promoting the digital transformation of any farm. The system is compatible with sprinklers that are not ISOBUS compliant, allowing them to meet EU compliance requirements for the Green Deal.

IoT solutionSprayKit FieldView can be purchased through NIK's dedicated hardware and IoT solution e-shop, through their dealer network and as an OEM solution.

What is behind FieldView?

FieldView is Bayer's flagship product that directly increases the possibilities of digital agriculture. Originally launched in the United States, FieldView is now in use on more than 89 million hectares worldwide, giving farmers a deeper understanding of their fields so they can make more informed operational decisions to optimize yields, increase efficiency, and reduce risk.
