Dawood Dawood: Berthoud Tracker attachment sprinklers are modern, reliable and robust
Davud Davud is the Head of Machinery and Tractor Park at BG AGRO Agricultural Company — a farm that has been developing its agricultural activities for almost 20 years.
BG AGRO, as most people know him, runs around120,000 acres of agricultural landin the lands of more than 30 settlements in Varna, Silistren, Razgrad, Shumenska and Dobrichka regions. The farm invests in the cultivation of traditional cereals and oilseeds, such as wheat, barley, corn, spelt, sunflower and rapeseed. For its plant protection, BG AGRO relies entirely on the French Berthoud sprayers, including the precision attachment model Berthoud Tracker, which is designed for intensive treatments.
“The farm has a total of 8 Berthoud sprayers from NIK. We really like them as a performance and that was the main reason why we settled on the brand. We haveself-propelled sprayer Berthoud Raptor and with 7 attachment sprayers Berthoud Tracker, with one of their biggest positives being the robustness of the chassis and the excellent handling in various terrains. Another thing that was very important for us when choosing the attachment was the Actiflex system,” explained Davud Dawood, who has been working at BG AGRO for 13 years.
In fact, attachment sprayers Berthoud Trackerare designed to perform excellently, both in flat fields and in rugged terrain and sloping terrain. Precisely in difficult and uneven massifs, suspension Actiflexplays a serious role in compensating for unevenness and furrows in the field, thereby protecting the bars from strong vibrations. The suspension is completely mechanical and works regardless of whether the main tank of the machine is full or empty. This allows stable processing at all times.
The control of the norm is carried out by a pressure sensor, which leads to quick stop and start of sectional controland quickly reach the desired norm.
Easy control of spray functions is controlled from the panel BERLOGIC. A huge plus is that with just one movement, you can switch from the “Spray” function to the “Charge” function.
The self-propelled sprayerThe farm is one of the most modern in Bulgaria. It is equipped with a Spraytronic system that allows control of each nozzle individually, as well as with a system with cameras that recognize weeds and allows selective spraying only at the points where necessary.
“We have Trimble navigationthrough which we do the sectional control. It works easily and quickly. We have the systems Trimble Field IQ, as well as EZ-Boom for older displays. Some of the attachment sprayers are computer-controlled. All this gives us the opportunity to carry out the operations and management quickly and easily,” added the head of the machine-tractor fleet.
Dawood Dawood: We noticed that the overgrown areas were a smaller percentage. Hence came savings on preparations and lower fuel costs.
Dawood and his team attend the trainings of Akademiya NIKin the summer of 2019, where they improve their knowledge on how to use the full potential of purchased modern equipment and achieve better results in the field.
How does Trimble Field IQ help with spraying?
FieldIQis a system that connects to the navigation in the sprayer and allows to control the rate of application of materials. It makes it possible to stop and start the individual sections, thus avoiding overlaps. Another option is to set up spraying only on individual sections, in order to compensate for missed streaks or to finish the plot when it is of irregular shape.
How did Berthoud change the way of working?
“There is no place for comparison between our old sprayers and the new ones. Our impressions of Berthoud Trackerare extremely good both as field work and as chassis strength. That's why we trusted the brand, otherwise we wouldn't have so many Berthoud sprayers. Definitely, as the main advantage, I would define the strength of the chassis and frame,” Davood is adamant.
