“I am calm about this year's sowing!” - Svilen Vassilev, ET Rubin

Svilen Vasilev tells us about the sowing in 2021 at the farm ET Rubin, s. Podem, municipality of Dolna Mitropolia, which cultivates about 10,000 acres. For the first time in 2021, sowing on the farm is carried out with a Kverneland Optima RS SX planter at a row spacing of 45 cm with fertilization and sectional control. How did Svilen Vassilev choose exactly this model for his farm? After a long study of the market and the possibilities of sowing with different than the standard row spacing, the farmer stopped at the Optima RS model with high-speed seed blowing sections with the possibility of precise sowing at 18 km/h.

“We decided on this configuration because of the price-quality ratio” - says Svilen Vassilev
Here's what else he shared in the conversation with us:Where did the idea to sow at 45 cm come from?“This year we decided to sow at 45 cm row spacing, because of the possibility for the plants to better absorb moisture and nutrients in the soil with the idea of suppressing weeds. The planter allows us to change the sections and make another row spacing”

How does precision sowing help you?“The precise sowing of the Kverneland Optima RS SX seeder at high speed helps us to reject more acres per day and to be able to sow in the optimal terms for this.” - shares Svilen Vassilev

“Our first job was to check the accuracy of the planter. We measured the distance between the seeds and found that the high speed did not interfere with precise sowing.”
In order to be convinced of the precision of the planter at the very first stop, he, the mechanics and the NIK service team dug several furrows to measure the distance of the seeds there. How do you keep track of sowing and other treatments on your farm?“Through the FarmTrack app, I can follow the progress of sowing on a daily basis. Since we have been using it, we know every tractor driver where he is and what activity he has done.”
