On the threshold of the new 2022, the NIK team makes the traditional overview of the most memorable events of the past year.

Here is a small part of the events in the sector of agriculture and the family of NIK that marked 2021:

1. Realization of the largest project for precision agriculture in Bulgaria

At the beginning of 2021, the first stage of the implementation of the largest precision agriculture project in Bulgaria was completed. One of the largest farms in Bulgaria equips all new John Deere tractors with Trimble GFX-750 display, autopilot and RTK accuracy of 2 cm.

Along with the new machines, the other tractors on the farm were modernized, as well as the Berthoud sprayers Berthoud, Tecnoma and Class combines that have been operating for years. Thus, the total number of self-propelled machines working with the latest generation GPS equipment Trimble, is over 100.

2. Hosting a different online event for a different spring of 2021

The year continued with an undoubtedly memorable hybrid event. The NIK team, together with those of Bayer Crop Science Bulgaria and Summit Agro, presented the latest technologies for the spring campaign.

The event was divided into three thematic panels: plant protection for champions, smart farming for innovators and new solutions for pest control and fertilization for high yields. The interesting topics did not leave indifferent the more than 400 people from all over the country present online.

3. Artificial intelligence in the field

In summer and autumn Bulgarian farmers had the opportunity to see with their own eyes how artificial intelligence is applied in the field through Berthoud-Sniper technology. During demonstrations all over Bulgaria, precise selective spraying was shown.

SNIPER is a revolutionary technology for agriculture that optimizes the herbicides used by recognizing weeds in the field and selectively spraying only on them.

4. Sub-measure 4.1

Undoubtedly one of the most memorable things for everyone in the sector was sub-measure 4.1.

This reception has enabled many farmers to upgrade their farms with digital technologies and turn field treatments into more precise ones. In parallel with precision fertilization and precision spraying, this was an opportunity for many farmers to implement farm management software on their farms, with which they could more easily calculate the cost of production and calculate their fuel costs.

5. The introduction of solar energy into agriculture

With the rise in electricity prices in our country and in Europe, alternative sources of electricity have become popular in more and more spheres, not bypassing the agriculture sector.

Solar energy, in addition to being greener, is also more cost-effective in the long run. The time for which the photovoltaic installation pays off exceeds the term of its operating period many times, which in practice means that after the 5th year the electricity it generates saves on the monthly costs of the farm. In addition to generating electricity for your own needs, through the photovoltaic installation you could sell the excess amount of electricity to neighbors or directly to the electricity grid.

6. Rise for agricultural drones

Drones — the step towards higher spray precision — were undoubtedly a hot topic in the fall of 2021.

In September, NIK announced its partnership with the leading manufacturer of autonomous machines/drones and robots/ — XAG.

NIK has expanded its portfolio with agricultural drones and unmanned autonomous robots. Another action that supports the unchanged focus of the company over the years, namely offering complete solutions for automation and optimization of processes in agricultural farms.

7. Autonomous tractors and robots

Since it was about robots, we cannot miss the event that marked the summer of this year. NIK has presented an autonomous tractor that many have described as the machine of the future, since it is controlled entirely remotely.

NICK partner Trimble presented a new level of agricultural robotics — the autonomous robot Annie.

8. NIK — Employer of the Year for the second consecutive year

NIK received the award Employer of the Year, Agriculture category in the Career Show Awards 2021 ranking. The first place in the ranking for the second year in a row proves that the company not only continues, but also increases its efforts towards the development of the team - creating a better working environment and upgrading the professional skills of employees.

9. Unification of 36 Bulgarian companies in a new branch organization

The last month of 2021 will be remembered with the new branch association of producers and importers of agricultural machinery and technology in our country — AGROTECH.

AGROTECH is established by 36 Bulgarian companies and will be without commercial activity and commercial purposes. One of the main goals of the association is to create modern conditions and development for the production and sale of agricultural equipment and technologies in Bulgaria.
